I probably should have left my room to investigate when, at around four o’clock that afternoon, I heard something heavy being moved across the living room floor. But I didn’t. It had been a loud afternoon at school with the hooligans, and I needed a few minutes of quiet to make some phone calls, away from two loud boys.

When I emerged about ten minutes later, the living room had switched with the dining room. Flip-flop.

“I swept the floor and put all the toys away, too!” Puck crowed at me, delighted with his masterful rearranging of all the furniture.

I left it that way. After all, he had swept the floor and put all the toys away, too.
