Interludes

In the end, the boys had not taken the trip up to Mark Twain Lake on Monday, due to rain having been in the forecast. Instead, they walked through a grocery store (according to Rose) and Joe bought subwoofers for Aristotle’s car (which didn’t fit, however, and had to be returned the following afternoon).
Mosquitoes swarmed that morning, thick and annoying. Everyone stayed indoors, away from the mugginess.
Over at the house, things were rather quiet. Joe took off to run errands, Carrie went out to a lunch meeting, and the rest of the family (minus Rose) were all at Cuivre River, camping away from the mosquitoes.
When Carrie returned, she showed Collette how to make a honey and aspirin face cleanser – an original experience.
And there were various Tarkan music videos on display throughout the morning and afternoon hours. Tarkan was known in his home country as the Turkish Elvis.
In between studies, Rose brought out her toad for the cats to sniff as it hopped around the living room.
As Collette and Puck returned home for the day, Joe, Wally, Curly, and Rose headed out to the campground for a visit and to Denny’s for dinner.
Meanwhile, back at home, Puck spent awhile that afternoon staring at a white card with black stripes on it, which Collette propped up on a plate stand in front of him. He was absolutely mesmerized. Later, when turned on his stomach, he pushed up his head and looked around like a turtle for awhile.
Come evening, OLeif was finally able to get around to mowing the weed-infested lawn, not to give the neighbors any license to complain.
For Wednesday, Collette and Puck made plans to visit the family at Cuivre River.
In good news of the day, Grandma’s test results had, thankfully, been good.
