Izzy's Birthday

Saturday, June 20, 2009

It was time to celebrate both Father’s Day and Izzy’s 16th birthday, one day early.
So OLeif, Collette, and Puck headed over to the Silverspoon’s for pizza casserole, root beer floats, and presents — which included a pile of books from OLeif and Collette (one written for Izzy by Collette) — before Izzy left to mow the neighbor’s yard, and the other boys went off to look at cell phones. And Collette was given Curly’s hand-me-down phone — the very first cell phone she had ever owned.
More rain was coming, she hoped.
Nearer to four o’clock, Rose arrived to drive over to Mollie’s graduation party with OLeif for Morrocan fair: lentils, hummus, smoked gouda — carrots, potatoes, and beets roasted in olive oil, garlic, and rosemary — nectarines, plums, cherries, oranges, and blueberry drinks, etc.
Puck was erupting in random temper tantrums throughout the day. This included a fiesty battle just before bedtime which landed him once again in the corner. After the tears had subsided, he returned with smiles and hugs and kisses, and began a discussion with his mama.
“Daddy doesn’t sit in corner. Mama doesn’t sit in corner. Nana doesn’t sit in corner. Curly doesn’t sit in corner. Carrie doesn’t sit in corner. Rose doesn’t sit in corner…”
Then, while OLeif hit the road downtown for a concert performed by Peter Pretzel, Collette and Rose commenced Part II of Movie Night with yet another BBC, this time: Sense & Sensibility.
