Puck woke up to find his Lilya had spent the night. This was a happy surprise for him, and they spent awhile reading books together on the couch while Collette readied everything to go for the morning.
When they returned to the house, Puck announced his entry, as usual.
“I’m baaaaack!!”
And Carrie would respond with:
“Hi, hoooooney!!”
Today, she had additional measures of greeting…
“Honey,” she said seriously, picking him up, “I need to discuss plans with you about our trip to Africa. We will ride on elephants and eat ostrich. Can you fit that into your schedule?”
“Awight,” Puck agreed, just as serious.
“We need to get that budget together,” Carrie continued.
“Awight.”
Then he went back to his playing with Linnea’s old Playmobil chairs.
“I put them dere… Cause why? Cause I have to,” he said to himself.
Then Linnea taught him how to do the splits.
Before Collette managed to tack Francis down to his seat for math homework, he and Linnea were busy doing what could only be classified as pirouettes and Charlie Chaplin walks in the living room together, and giggling at themselves.
Then Joe returned from taking care of the automobiles, with an announcement that he had used the Amazon credit from selling his textbooks to purchase the Blueray DVD collection of Planet Earth, and then out for a 21-mile bike ride, after which he returned splashed over with mud. He prepared to take Trooper outside.
“Wait, I forgot the leash!” he exclaimed. “Nice try, Trooper. Trying to trick me to open the door before I got the leash.” And then he imitated a dopey Trooper’s thoughts: “Doh, I just wanted to go outside…”
After Puck’s quiet time, as he decided he wasn’t sleepy enough for a nap once again, he tromped through the house wearing a pair of the girls’ black beaded flip-flops, carrying an armful of cooking utensils, while Rose prepared chocolate peanut butter bars for the guys at work. He then made his rounds to see how everyone was, with his usual inquiry:
“You ok, Onion?”
“You ok, Francis?”
“You ok, Mama?”
That evening, OLeif crammed in some side work on his Biblical Literacy exam before meeting Tennessee, Joe, and Nacchianti at the movies.
