January 15

The day was a soup outside — a gray mist.

OLeif started his day with an hour of work, followed by a brunch meeting, and an all-day seminar, which would continue all day Saturday, and half of Sunday.

Over at the house, Joe and Rose were just leaving for the movies with Magnus.
Dad was working in his office.
Mom was teaching the kids in her room.
Carrie was busy working on any number of creative enterprises, as usual, including thinking of a way to get to the opera.
And Puck got to work making himself a road of cassette holders for his matchbox cars. He had also been given a toy fire engine from Aunt Petunia, which was a big hit of the day.
“Dank you! Dank you!” he cried happily.
He then walked around with Carrie’s head massager on his head for a short time, until he thought that he probably looked a little too ridiculous.

Nearing the lunch hour, Mom and Carrie popped out to pick up Lion’s Choice roast beef sandwiches, bags of Sun Chips and Fritos, and several 2-liters. They returned in time for almost everyone to watch the first half of Doctor Who: The End of Time, for Mom’s sake, as she had not yet seen the finale.

Then Collette ran a number of errands, including dropping Francis off at Creole’s, picking up a stack of books regarding tea for Carrie, and FedEx-ing another set of documents to Children’s Hope.

As evening approached, Linnea made ready to attend a birthday party-slumber party and basketball practice, while Carrie chased Puck around the house with Linnea’s giant pink slinky pillow.

And the fog was still thick.
