Another week begun.
Puck came hurrying in that morning, with thoughts of spiders.
“Spiders are trained to be sneaky,” he said.
Come around nine o’clock, Puck begged a ‘Playdough party’ in the kitchen with the new ‘masculine’ cooking set that his grandma had given to him.
“Look, Daddy!” he had exclaimed. “Toys! And they’re for boys!”
And so they made blue biscuits together.
“Aw, a baby biscuit,” said Puck, holding up the tiniest circle. “And here are his aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters,” he said, plopping down a wad of smashed-together biscuits on another plate.
Later, Puck was reminded of Collette leaving shortly for the Bahamas.
“I don’t want you to go, Mama.”
“I will pray for you and think about you every day and every night,” Collette told him. “And I am going to bring you something back from the ocean.”
“What could it be?” Puck asked. “An astronaut.”
He let this idea settle for a moment…
“Could you bring back an astronaut from the ocean? From the ocean? A tardis? A tardis? You know, Mama, Doctor Who died. He died to Heaven. Does he love God? Does Doctor Who love God?”
By 10:30, Collette and Puck were out for a bike ride, Puck riding, Collette jogging alongside, in the warmer 39.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Although there had been a 60% chance of ice pellets.
When they returned, Puck busied himself chastising invisible children for ‘being disobedient’, threatening them with a tiny stapler as punishment, which he thought was ‘a printer’.
“I printed them for being disobedient,” he explained.
Around the one o’clock hour, Rose arrived with the kids for the usual tutoring session, as their Classical Conversations had been canceled for the day.
Rose checked out the new Roku box with Puck, while Linnea drew her customary glass of ice water, Francis, a mug of milk, to accompany the Reeses peanut butter cups.
And then the traditional Ruckus ride.
OLeif returned at 4:50, and then several hours more of work into the night to catch up on an incoming wave of spring updates.
And in other news of the world…
Christian Bale was finally given his Golden Globe.
