“I'D RATHER KISS A TOILET SEAT! HA HA!” … Yali is laughing at his own joke down the hallway early that morning... apparently Patience is interested in pulling the loose canine on the top of his teeth deck and makes an offer... he refuses... as I attempt to get out of bed to begin Saturday, I hear snatches of their conversation from the kitchen where Patience is beginning to prepare breakfast, which she loves to do... Yali is teasing her... “Onions? Potatoes? Syrup and magic beans?”
Patience and I leave at nine forty-five for the studio... the slushy snowman she and Yali built yesterday afternoon (rocks for buttons and a smile) is still standing upright, its snaggle stick arms holding a burnt soda can that Puck tossed in a bonfire last autumn...
Patience joins friends for three hours of practice and sharing of the latest studio-fad : homemade freeze-dried strawberries and pineapples and other things
Participate in some long conversations (some fire) with Puck at home who had a change of plans... J is incapacitated with a severe migraine and can't hang out... while folding laundry and washing dishes...
Oxbear and Yali leave to grab a Micro Center gift card before a quick trip to The Minifig Shop (Yali always has more ideas; this time, it's a shark tank)
Between Oxbear's and my work, we gather boxes of smoked chicken and ribs, homemade mac 'n cheese, bags of salad, and a pouch of M&M's to deliver to a porch in Webster Groves... for the darkest of times...
An evening leading into three days of frigid air... is for “Avatar : The Last Airbender” for Oxbear and the kids...
Remains of the day...
- traffic cone orange paint splat all over the wood floor because someone didn't screw the lid back on the bottle
- BBQ ribs grease on Yali's church pants (why he was wearing them on a Saturday, I don't know...)
- Oxbear cuts his finger helping Joe with his pinewood derby car : band-aid required
