January 27
Over at the house, while Collette worked with Francis and Linnea on mathematics and Portuguese, Mom and Puck made clay snakes: purple, green, red, orange, yellow with blue squiggles mixed in, etc.
“Here’s the grandpa snake,” Mom told him, helping him roll out a long purple snake.
Then they made tacos and snowmen with ‘headphones’ (earmuffs).
“Make a mama snowman!” Puck exclaimed.
Before Puck’s nap, Linnea taught him how to refine his pronunciation of ‘St. Louis’, which still ended up being: Saint Loo-lis anyway.
Carrie had a head of what she called, Ophelia hair that morning, many soft curls bunched up after she had rolled her hair up in fabric.
She was out sending her transcripts to Swinburne and returned for a batch of carrot sticks and a dip of peanut butter mixed with raw honey.
Creole arrived in the afternoon for work with Francis.
And Linnea departed for gymnastics, to bring back Mandarin O. for youth group.
In the afternoon, the snow came again… a cascade of white from the skies. Carrie wrapped Puck up in a cozy blue blanket and let him stand in the drenching for a short while.
