January 6

The cold, cold morning started with Francis setting up Rose’s ringtones on her cellphone.

“There,” he said proudly. “Now you have a different ringtone for every day of the week.”
These tunes included the theme songs from Brazil and The Magnificent Seven.

Meanwhile, Collette was almost incessantly popping back banana chips… a sorry vice.
Francis was relaying the events of the previous evening at The St. Louis Bread Co. with the youth and the boy who was leaving for New Zealand.
“Yeah, we had a good time talking,” he said. “We discussed what we’d do first if there was a zombie attack, and he was pretty impressed that I knew about Top Gear. And then OLeif spilled his coffee everywhere.”

In the afternoon, Rose left for an interview with an IT recruiter, and was given positive feedback regarding many companies hiring for their IT departments, most likely toward February.
Carrie also had an interview at The Melting Pot and was hired on the spot, to keep some income pumping in while blazing ahead with school and writing her book.
But before she left, she sent Francis out to get the mail.
“Put your shoes on, Francis!” Mom scolded him.
“I AM a man!” Francis said importantly, and raced through the frozen grass.

During Puck’s failed attempt at a nap, Francis perused the bookshelf for some appropriate reading material for Puck to read in his port-a-crib.
“Let’s see…” he began. “Algebra workbook for dummies…”

And Mom took Linnea to gymnastics and the store, to stock up on bookoos of groceries in time for the predicted four to eight inches of snow that night.
When they returned, Linnea had been awarded a ribbon and approval to compete.
