Japanese Ideas

“Mama?”
“Yes, Puck.”
“Could you make me a BIG BIG breakfast today?”
“What did you have in mind?”
“Cheeeeeese… and miiiiiilk… and thaaaaaat… and, no, not that. And that’s all. That’s all I order.”

With the early mail, a box from Amazon arrived bearing the 2012 Writer’s Guide and a ream of “Roman Candle” red paper. The day was graying over. The mongrel black stray cat meandered across the patio again. If it wasn’t one creature, it was another. Puck had a cold fruit juice and a hot bath. More South American tunes. OLeif returned before 5:30 with the Japanese cookbook Collette had reserved at the library. She was looking into further details of why the Japanese scored the highest life expectancy in the world. Reading through the cookbook explained all…

“Fruit is the ‘dessert’ in a Japanese meal… The Western practice of serving a sweet confection as the last course of the meal does not exist in Japan.”

Yikes.
