Joe for Philmont

Over at the house, Collette showed Puck the blooming pale yellow roses through the window, big as bowls.
“This looks like Heaven,” Puck said.
Then, while Mom and the three boys ran errands (including picking up a package of lightbulbs and a tub of butter for Collette), it was back to the algebra with Linnea-Irish and the never-ending genealogical roots, which Collette was attempting to wrap up by July for Great Uncle Combs. 142 pages and counting. Today’s line-up: French kings and dukes, Dutch, Ukrainian princess, German, and English…
The whole day was heavy over with clouds of rain, none of which fell to any great extent. And Joe spent all of his day packing (which included a number of volumes of mathematics textbooks), preparing bikes, making phone calls, dropping off luggage, etc., before leaving to see Robin Hood with friends that evening as a final hurrah.
Come evening, the family was all together again briefly, and OLeif, Collette, and Puck were able to say goodbye to Joe before the boys took off for home and Collette left for sushi with Mom, Carrie-Bri, and Rose.
They followed Joe out of the neighborhood. At the intersection, Joe drew a smiley face in the window for them before he took off. He was going to have a great summer.
Sushi was good. Collette expanded her horizons from the Philly roll to the Kentucky roll, which, she had to admit, was very good. She liked sushi more and more, now that she had eaten it for the fourth time.
There were a number of good laughs before the evening ended at eight o’clock with a rosy ring of horizon panning gold in the west.
