Back to Bible study.

It was a cool morning. Very cool for July.

Over at the Silverspoon’s, there was a traditional piece of bacon for each. And eggs and toast. And then to the Silverspoon’s church.

Following the study, they returned for lunch. And Collette left her chubby baby sleeping soundly tucked in for a long summer’s nap to join Mom, Carrie-Bri, and Linnea. After a quick stop for groceries, it was downtown for Carrie and Collette. Collette had seven documents to apostille for the adoption. So… to the Secretary of State.

The day was so mild. After finally finding a decent place to park, they waited around forty-five minutes in the public library, where Collette read about the unfortunate Tudor sisters, and then a brief walk through the farmer’s market, which included a small Amish family selling vegetables and boxes of blueberries and blackberries. And the scent of donuts and teas… Then back inside for the documentation.

Shortly after five, they met up with Rose after work. Two and a half hours between Border’s, where Collette read travel notes of Iceland from an Indian observer and Rose bought two $7.99 copies of Calvin & Hobbes, and the Galleria where Carrie found a pair of shoes designed some place between Louis XIV and the American West. And two orders of pretzel sticks with cheese dip to split.

Then Rose headed off to Dr. Wintershine’s for small groups. And Collette and Carrie off toward home in the sunset while listening to Max Richter.

Back to her boys, Puck was waiting in bed for a goodnight hug and kiss.

“I missed you so much, Mama,” he said. “Don’t you ever… don’t you ever… go way from me ‘gain.”

“Yeah,” OLeif said later. “We got back home and Puck looked at me and said, ‘Uh oh. We lost our Mama.’”

Her beautiful baby boy…

Especially at this time of year, people have many different feelings here [Iceland],” a car mechanic name Olafur explained… “In the dark they have much time to think of God — and of other things in that direction.”
