Quiet at home… weeks in the summers were often like this. Stillness. Cicadas. Warm dull heat. And yet the morning began with the skies Collette liked best, leading to a shower and rumbling thunder by 8:40.
Aside from that, nothing more than peanut butter, Spurgeon’s sermons, laundry, and a jog. Not to mention the hours of giggling chubby three-year old happiness, Calvin & Hobbes, matching picture puzzle games, watching the rain out the window, etc.
When Puck’s tiny orange cat rolled under the couch that afternoon, Puck turned to Collette and said, “He’s under the couch for gone years! And gone and gone…”
The little man had his own pattern to his speech. His own personalized style. It was fun to listen.
Then Cary Grant and M’nMs in the evening.
Shortly after ten, the rain fell with a crash and the thunder cracked.
