Travel essays on the way to the house that morning.

When arrived, the whiteboard shopping list read:

  • hair brush

  • dry white wine

  • meat thermometer

  • oranges

  • peaches

  • pineapple

  • grapes

  • cinnamon bread

  • devonshire cream (not whipping cream)

It was pretty funny last night,” Carrie was saying. “Dad came out with his water bottle. And he was all serious. And he said, ‘This is my blue Nalgene bottle. And someone put a duck in it.’”

Puck guilty.

Meanwhile, Puck was busy with his tiny podium again.

I’m makin’ a speech!” he declared. The first fing is… dis is a rock!” And he held up a rock.

Then to the stores for groceries and dry goods.

While in the notebook aisle at Target, which Collette could never resist, Puck picked up a certain notebook and turned to his aunts.

This was my favorite when I was your age,” he said seriously.

Back at the house, Carrie baked a pumpkin pie.

And shortly after three o’clock, Mom and Francis returned from the reunion.

On the way home to movie night, the skies ripped with lightening again. It was all shaping up to be a good thunderstorm summer.
