An essay on North Korea for the morning drive…

Over at the house…

Trooper had devoured the entire pumpkin pie the previous evening. In one sitting.

Between projects of the day, Mom, Carrie-Bri, and Linnea-Irish rubbed on egg masks while Linnea hunted for a friend to attend the Murder Mystery Dinner with her at the library on Friday night.

Francis was busy mowing everyone’s lawns.

And Puck had brought out the pedestal again. “Ladies and… boys! Have a seat and get in line! Close your eyes and think about. Love and joy. And get in line!”

Earlier, when Puck had been drinking water, he coughed as some of it ‘went down the wrong pipe’.

This water has bones in it, Mama,” he said.

No, Puck. No bones in your water.”

It does when I cough,” he replied.

In the afternoon, while Mom and the girls visited Grandma Snicketts, Collette and Puck went on a brief shoe-shopping with Francis, which was unsuccessful.

Then Puck followed Francis around outside with a flashlight and ‘strawberry meat’, while Francis attempted fixing the chainsaw.

The evening saw Rose returned from work, taking a break from the old community groups after a long week in the heat. She came back to read Stone Soup to Puck while Carrie put together a peanut butter chocolate bar dessert. This was followed by a giggling Puck smashing his aunts in dogpile fashion on the couch with his flashlight. He shone it onto Carrie’s smile.

What color are my teeth, Puck?” she asked him.

Mmmm black.”

Yellow!” Rose whispered to him.

Yellow!” Puck announced.

Hey, no one says that about my teeth,” said Carrie. “I’ve had two, no, three proposals due to these pearlies.”

Yeah right,” Rose scoffed.

It’s because as soon as they saw my teeth, they knew I was American. One guy I couldn’t understand at all except that he said, ‘Colgate commercial.’”
