Another mini-holiday. OLeif was home.

Collette was woken by her Puck at 7:30. And as soon as she moved, she felt all of the soreness of her muscles. They were amazingly sore. Carrying around multiple children, twins, lifting them off the floor, simultaneously, throughout the course of an hour and a half, had taken its toll…

Then to the Silverspoon’s, where Gloria already had the grill going and Puck was off to raid the tortilla chip box. Nothing like four-day weekends. Grilled chicken, marinated, wrapped in tomato-basil tortillas… “Man, these things are like blankets,” said Gloria. Ice cold root beer. Talk about Iceland, Theodore’s experience in the Navy, which included trips to Greenland, Spain, and Hawai’i, none of which he particularly seemed to like… Apple pie.

The afternoon was hot, although Puck was determined to spend, at least a short amount of it, out of doors. Followed by naps for Theodore and Gloria, Ratatouille, and bananagrams.

At some point, Puck stared down the statue of Archimedes in the music room. After several moments of contemplation, he said to it, “You’re not my daddy.”

Meanwhile, in other news…

Joe had recovered from a cough and cold in New Mexico, and was on a continuous cycle of work, cycling, hiking, the movies, games, discussions, music, visiting antique shops… yes, antique shops… he always did have a good bit of the Combs’ side of the family in him… etc. Who could have imagined his summer would be, already, such an amazing experience.

At museums, he’s allowed to touch the art.”
