Jumping Lessons

Monday, May 4, 2009

Puck was in the kitchen cuddling with his dog.
“Hi, Trooper. Hi!” he said happily.
“When do babies learn how to jump?” Linnea was asking.
“He tries to jump already,” Collette told her.
“Well, good,” Linnea replied. “Because I’m going to teach him today.”
Linnea and Puck spent awhile giggling and jumping around the house. Puck thought it was a grand idea, and though he could never get both feet off the ground at the same time, he managed to still have enough fun with the project.
This was later followed with Puck pretending to sneeze over and over again.
The afternoon was reserved for Trader Joe’s and purchasing stones to ring around the fire in the backyard. Algebra. Puck’s reading program. The usual.
That evening, OLeif burned the midnight oil over his term paper while trying not to distract himself with Doctor Who Confidential trying to convince Collette that the ending of Season Four was not the “worst finale of all time”, while they split a mandarin lime soda. But Collette could not agree.
