June 8
Before the service started, Puck was busy learning how to use a pen for the first time, scribbling on a bulletin.
But Collette didn’t hear much of the sermon on Amos that morning. Puck was a little too interested in watching his light-up shoes walk around the foyer, instead of sitting in church where he belonged. Then the entire Greenbriar family (of ten or so persons) walked into the auditorium, late, in slowly migrating groups. That alone was distracting. Then 70 year-old Bubba Pinks passed out during the service. He was discreetly led out to the foyer by his son-in-law (Hansel’s & Gretyl’s dad), who was a paramedic, until the ambulance arrived. Fortunately, after he was taken to the hospital, it was discovered that the fainting was an unpleasant side-effect of his new medication. And so he would be fine.
Back at the house, Puck helped Carrie make Play-dough while Collette picked up OLeif from church. When they returned, Carrie explained Puck’s hands.
“Sorry about that,” she said. “That’s food coloring. He helped me mix the Play-dough.”
It was a warm, busy-moving day, until OLeif dropped them off at the Silverspoon’s while he attended a mission trip youth leader’s meeting at church.
Puck sat next to Izzy on the couch and happily whisked a spoon in an empty glass which had originally housed a rootbeer float after burgers for lunch.
