"Kill 'em all; let God sort 'em out."

All Hollow’s Eve dawned gray and foreboding, more like November than the warm October St. Louis had seen that year. The brown bean pods outside the bedroom window barely fluttered; there was hardly a wind to be seen. Outside, Collette had just hung a flag of a dagger and pirate skull with eyes of fire, and the emblem: “Kill ’em all; let God sort ’em out”. It had been a gift from Collette’s brothers and sisters and Grandma Combs, a few weeks before. Taking the risk that the flag could be an offense to some neighbors or passer-by, Collette had OLeif hang it off the balcony anyway. It was amazing the things one could get away with on Halloween. Of course, wearing her pin of the same flag to church, might be a little over the edge. So she left it on her scarf in the closet.
