Kitty's Birthday
Because it was Kitts’ 23rd birthday, OLeif had plans to send her a picture card via email.
“Too bad we can’t have Puck writing a big note on the wall in crayon that says ‘Happy birthday, Aunt Kitty!’”
OLeif thought about this a little while longer, looking at the golden orange color of the kitchen wall.
“Do we have any more of that orange paint?” he asked.
Over at the Silverspoon’s, Izzy was entertaining a friend who had spent the night with the Wii. Theodore was at work in the basement. And OLeif had come with an envelope of tax forms. This took up the rest of the morning.
Then there was a presentation of Iceland pictures and a presentation of gifts: a black and red striped hand-knit shawl for Denae, a red t-shirt for Izzy that read (in Icelandic) “I don’t speak Icelandic”, and two boxes of Opal candies for Theodore. Plus chocolate.
This was followed with Izzy’s DVD compilation of his high adventure scouting trip to Colorado the previous July where he hiked to a 14,000 foot summit and drank cold water from a mountain stream, after having been put through a purifier.
“That was absolutely the best water I’ve ever tasted,” he said.
It was always interesting to swap travel stories.
After Puck woke from a deep, warm nap bundled in his usual fleece blanket, he joined the others to briefly look over televisions at the store before they parted ways for the day.
OLeif was due at work again by four o’clock to help with a major move, with all of his buddies, including Rose.
And unfortunately, Linnea was sick, as was Curly down in Tennessee. She braved a fever and shivered through her communicants class interviews. But then home to rest for the duration of the day.
