Labor Day

Labor Day – Dad was packing to leave that afternoon for another business trip to Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mom was madly cleaning the house, OLeif was designing a church logo, Carrie – studying one of Dad’s old physics books, Joe – working all day at The Green Lantern, Francis – mowing the yard. The Combs were coming at one.
Puck was all decked out in his latest gift of clothing from his Aunt Linnea – a t-shirt which read “Little Pirate” across the front.
Grandma had come with gifts for Collette – a book of Mary Chestnut’s journals and a Viking ship pin.
Dinner was hot dogs, brats, chips, and sodas. It was a quieter gathering. Ben-Hur came over, followed by Magnus later in the afternoon.
Aunt Petunia brought her boxes of beads and hooks to make Mom a pair of earrings for Amanda’s wedding out of crystal beads which had once belonged to Great Grandma Jewel.
