Last day

Patience and I are leaving early for our last volunteer shift at the old school that year... it's also Yali's and Patience's last day of school... but Patience is currently at the bathroom mirror busy curling her tongue into a “clover” (the latest fad amongst the girls at the studio)... and Yali is equally busy climbing the inside of the kitchen doorframe while hanging onto both of Puck's resistance bands strapped to the pull-up bar...

Spend about an hour sorting and cleaning caddies of grubby glue sticks and crayons and markers in the First Grade classroom while Patience gets goodbye-for-the-summer hugs from all the tots in Spanish...

Home for books with all the kids around lunch and another orthodontist appointment for Patience...

A handshake for Yali as he concludes his 5th grade year... “I miss the feeling of exhilaration for summer break”... Puck muses nostalgically like some wisened old man...

Patience also receives her conclusive 3rd grade year handshake an hour later as she wraps her final reading lesson on the drive to the studio...

hello summer...
