Last of the Games
Puck began his morning in his highchair, giving his “mow” (pacifier) to his stuffed donkey, and then playing peek-a-boo with it while his hot cereal was being prepared.
“Where’d donkey go?” he’d ask himself. “There he is!”
And then he talked to the neighbor dog in the other yard, through the glass window, as usual. This was followed with high fives for his stuffed gorilla.
After OLeif returned from his photo shoot at Christ Presbyterian, he and Puck had a sword fight with giant candy canes.
Over at the Silverspoon’s, Puck, after tentatively greeting his uncles, joined them with basketballs, brooms, and Izzy’s remote controlled car in the front yard and driveway. This was followed after his nap with helping his Nana with the yard work while Theodore and the boys rebuilt the deck that Izzy had dismantled. Puck raked up leaves to the best of his ability, and surveyed Sebastian and his doings.
The last day of basketball for the season, and a very last game for Francis, who, entering high school in the fall, would no longer be young enough for Upward Basketball.
Linnea and Eleda lost, 25-28. But it had been a good, fun, close game. A nice way to end the season.
While there, Grandma presented Collette with a gift — a miniature red-lined notebook with two tiny-sized black and red pens, which would serve as her travel journal to Iceland. And then, a large sum of money for them both to use while abroad. Grandma, as always, was greatly generous.
OLeif and Puck joined Collette for Francis’ final game. As Puck crawled under their legs on the risers, and tossed Joe’s Philmont hacky-sack with Linnea, Francis and his team stormed to a 31-25 victory. A good way to close out the season.
