Let Them Eat Peanut Butter

Saturday, July 7, 2012

One more day to pack at the Rye house, which sent the two little snaps over to the church nursery again for one more round.
“I’m drinkin’ my orange juice!” the young chap announced in his new haircut. “It’s tasty!”
He already looked older, and he hadn’t even left yet.

Eight hours of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, fish crackers, and noisy toys.
Plus an offering from Mom – Reeses peanut butter cups.
She knew just how much Collette loved sitting in nurseries, even if red paper Chinese lanterns hung from the ceiling.

Solomon broke out more tears in the afternoon. He was a heavy chubby-legged baby. So Collette finally sat him down on the rubber mat and enticed Puck to continue his theatrics. Solomon seemed particularly entranced with Puck falling off of small heights and crashing into the floor. In fact, Solomon was so entirely pleased with Puck’s near-endless performance, that he rewarded him with a gummy chomp on Puck’s face, accompanied by giggles of admiration.

Five o’clock arrived.
Puck and Hesed ran laps together in the sanctuary, spilling over with endless energy.
Judah and Evangeline were meeting the Oholibamahs for Ethiopian cuisine at the Queen of Sheba downtown.
And once again, another “last goodbye” was exchanged. Puck hugged Hesed.

It had been a long-fast hot 107 day.
Collette and Puck dropped in at Target.
Cat box.
Frozen dinner for Puck.
And a mini cheese, cheese-stuffed pizza for Collette.

Thunder grumbled in the east.
The cat prowled the windows over waiting green trees, which had somehow still kept their color.
