Letters to Scouts

Relevance was 23 that day. Edred would have been 20.

Letters to Scouts:

(From Collette to Joe):

Hey, Man,

Hope you’re having a good week with your
fellow Scouts. Seeing as it has only been
one day since you’ve left, I have no
astronomic news to share with you.
However, I think that Echo-Josue moved to
Helsinki over the weekend. So… there’s
that. Oh, and I don’t think that she’s
ever coming back. And last time I checked,
the sky is falling.

So…

[cricket chirp]

Hope your week rocks. I will come
Thursday if you’re a good little boy and
leave me a plate of cookies and a glass
of milk.

Behave yourself and have fun.

Love,
Collette

All of Rose’s letters were heavily saturated in obnoxiously potent purfumes to make the other Scouts jealous.

(From Rose to Joe on a Christmas card of a dove on blue which said “Peace on Earth”):

Hello! All the other cards had
stupid flowers on them so I sent this
one. Anyways…. We say Nacho
Libre again. That’s pretty much it.
Except that Trooper has been kinda crazy.
He keeps running around the house
like a mad man. Well… I would
send you a cookie or something but then I’d
have to spend more money…
Anywho… Carrie’s still
obssessed with Craig. She’s listening to
the Yahoo Live thing of Autumn Shade II.
Well…… that’s all for now.
GOODBYE!
Love, (NOT)
Rose

(From Rose to Wallace on a “Get Well” card picturing a sketched raccoon, smiling with bundles of flowers and a crossword puzzle inside):

Hello! Well the raccoon on the
front reminded me of you and you’ve
probebly broken something by now.
Ummmmm…… nothing
interesting has happened but you
guys only left 1 day ago. Tell Joe
I’m expecting a GIANT birthday
present and lots
of soda. 🙂 Well figure
out that puzzle
thing with all the
letters and then you’ll
be smarter. Goodbye.
Rose

(From Rose to Curly on a card of a sketched bear, bluebird, and two butterflies in flowers, reading “You’re Nice To Know” – Inside, Rose scratched out what had already been written: “Happy Birthday! love Elizabeth”.):

WICKLE
Hello! It’s not your birthday…
but o well. It’s still a card.
I sent you guys some Smarties.
You can either eat them or sell
them. Well that’s it. You won’t
get any more letters from us.
Rose

She did not, however, get to send the Smarties, as Mom told her to take them out because they wouldn’t go through the letter sorter without being smashed. And so… once the letters were prepared for the mailbox, Carrie cut Collette some bangs. And the day grew warm, but a breeze blew cool underneath the green of the “magnolia” tree.

Meanwhile, Wallace’s siblings had sabotaged his IM in his absence, leaving a great red rose for his icon with the following message:

I AM A BALLERINA! WEEEEEEE!!!”
