Linnea Spends the Night
Collette and Linnea spent Monday night snuggled on the couch in blankets in the basement with peanut butter cookies watching Jon & Kate Plus Eight.
The next morning, Puck was a little grumpy from waking up early at six o’clock, so to distract him from his sleepiness, Collette and Linnea took him to Target. His eyes perked up when he was lifted squirming out of his car seat.
“Dah dah!” he cried, when he saw the big bright red balls stationed like sentinels outside the front of the store.
He was placed in the front of the shopping cart and wheeled through the aisles. They stopped briefly at the Lifescapes station. Linnea picked several selections of music. He boogeyed down to everything from Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata to salsa. After adding several items to the cart, Linnea picked out a bag of goldfish snacks for the afternoon and a Hershey’s bar to put in the fridge for later.
After his nap, Puck was overjoyed to be handed the three new washcloths also bought from Target that morning: bright red, lime green, and an aqua/turquoise stripe. Puck grinned and took them eagerly, wriggling them into squishy piles.
That evening, in the warm sun, Collette and Linnea walked to the library to pick up Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which OLeif and Linnea had never seen before. Watching it always reminded Collette of the Raven boys when they performed it in their high school play in Kentucky.
When they got back, OLeif had pizza rolls in the oven.
