Living Generation Number Four is Born

Jules Verne’s 2nd birthday and the day was strangely quiet and productive. Collette scoured down the apartment, hunting through old nooks and crannies of boxes and hundreds of writings. She stumbled across various oddities, including a bar of olive oil soap that her old violin teacher had given her (from her husband after returning from a trip to Greece), the entire 5 Ages of Myst, her old ink bottle and writing set, Mom’s old stamp collection, etc. And Collette wondered if it was appropriate to pass on old wedding gifts after two years, such as picture frames she had forgotten about. She set them aside to decide for later.

Later in the afternoon, Collette drove back over to the house at Frances’ and Linnea’s request for her to spend the night. She came just in time to save another tail of hair, this time from Linnea, (after Carrie had sliced it off) and add it to her beginning collection. Meanwhile, word from the front was that the troop had arrived at 3:00pm in the baked-over city of New Orleans.

And Carrie made her latest new plans to live in Australia, cooing over dingoes or something…

Later in the evening, word came that Brit and Lilli were expecting their first child in late January, making Grandpa and Grandma Snicketts – Greats, Uncle Hilario and Aunt Corliss – Grandpa and Grandma, and Dad and Mom – Great Uncle and Great Aunt! And all the cousins would suddenly become great-cousins, or aunt-cousins, uncle-cousins, however that relationship worked… Perhaps a new name would need to be invented for the title given to a kids’ parent’s cousin. Another first for many of them. Collette also realized that day that she was the first woman ever on her mother’s side of the family to get a four-year college degree. Fancy that.
