The world woke up to rain that morning.
In Puckland…
-
Collette had discovered that the illusive ‘arbria’ was his way of saying ‘root beer’.
-
The previous evening, when Collette had handed him his plate with a hot dog, Puck waited awhile until getting around to the hot dog. Then finally…
“I found da hot dog! It was hiding in my bread! Ta-da!”
A quiet morning at the house with Carrie-Bri. OLeif arrived with them to polish his shoes and then off early to a one o’clock interview at the Brown Shoe Company for the position of website manager. He learned later that evening that he had been offered the position, to begin on Monday.
When Puck woke from his nap, Carrie and Malaya were working on their company. And Joe handed over a few small candies to Puck while Collette watched the last bit of Gigi from Rose’s library collection, a film she had never seen.
When Joe told Puck that he had eaten his mow and that it was in his belly, Puck responded urgently…
“De’re not in da bellies. De’re in da bag.”
“Dey are?” Joe laughed.
“Dey am!”
Back home, Puck looked out the window and thought about things.
“God made da stars, Mama.”
And then Joe and Rose arrived for comedy night, which was chopped up throughout the evening by phone calls regarding OLeif’s new work position, Joe’s almost-cancelled-because-there-weren’t-enough-students-registered class that began the next morning, Rose making calls back and forth between the Apple store and the family… But there was still time for a pepperoni pizza and root beer feast.
