March 7
At lunch, following church, there were tender pork wedges, a variety of vegetables, and Hawaiian sweet rolls, followed by a white cake frosted chocolate.
The conversation seemed to center on no particular topic, as was customary. One piece did include how the church had been built by salvaged parts torn out of old buildings, (with permission), by the likes of Dad, Joe, and many others in the congregation.
“Yeah, on our way to church,” Carrie was laughing, “Rose pointed to a building and was like, ‘That’s where our toilets came from!’”
Meanwhile…
-
Collette, Carrie-Bri, and Rose hit Chesterfield Mall to locate a new wardrobe for Rose’s position at Wells Fargo. (They found one pair of pants…)
-
Puck had earlier chowed down on a handful of pink bear-shaped gooseberry ‘biscuits’ (English forms of cookies) from the English Store in Old St. Charles, where Carrie and Rose had been with Lucia the previous day. (Carrie had also found red Turkish Delight there.) And they had brought back a decal for Collette which read ‘Scotland’.
Toward the dinner hour, Dad treated everyone to Culver’s where a tray of custards was delivered to the table.
“I have my cinnamon ice cream?” Puck asked hopefully, remembering Tuesday.
Instead, he was gifted a tiny container of a dollar’s worth of walnuts, and several spoonfuls of Collette’s custard, dotted with miniature M’nMs.
They then discussed how Dad was going to get his Reel-to-Reels sent off, possibly to Chicago, etc.
And before they left, Dad sneaked Puck an extra spoonful of custard, with a chuckle.
