May 10
Aggravating start to the day.
Puck was temperamental that morning.
They locked themselves out of the car at Covenant Seminary until a Clayton police officer came to open the door.
Rose failed to pass an upper level exam by two percent.
Argh.
On the way to the Silverspoon’s, OLeif dropped a dollar into the fireman’s collection bag in passing an intersection.
“Thank you so much,” said the fire fighter.
“No problem,” said OLeif. “Happy Mother’s Day!”
The fire fighter laughed as OLeif drove off and called back:
“Happy Mother’s Day!”
On the upside, OLeif picked out a bouquet of mostly sunflowers, eucalyptus, and tiny purple flowers for Denae as an early Mother’s Day gift.
And Kitts had sent Puck a hologram-type book, which Puck enjoyed reading for the afternoon, between playing outside in the front lawn while OLeif mowed, before Izzy returned from Scouts.
The rain hadn’t yet arrived, so Denae pulled around Puck in a snow sled on the thick green grass. She showed him roly-polies and earth worms. He played with both. Then he rolled around a cue ball on the driveway with his Uncle Curly.
Puck had been into some light reading materials. With Carrie-Bri: “The ABC’s of Relativity” and with OLeif: “The Church at the end of the 20th Century”.
Come evening, the winds were crazy. Thunder cracked loudly around the house while Puck slept soundly. And in the middle of the night, a small tree cracked over in the neighbor’s yard. Maniac winds.
