May 10

It was cold.

May was hot one minute, cold the next.

Carrie-Bri had promised Puck a pair of flip-flops. So Monday morning, as the skies were gray over green hills and valleys, Collette, Carrie, Linnea-Irish, and Puck, drove out to the old Chesterfield Mall.

Old Navy was having a sale, so Carrie let Puck pick out two pairs of flip-flops. He was pretty set on the green pair. He also chose a black.

I want some green fwip-fwops!” he said enthusiastically.

Then to Trader Joe’s and home under skies that spittled.

After Puck’s nap, Linnea-Irish and Collette took him on a running walk through the neighborhood. About halfway back, the rain let loose and they ran through the wooded bits of the neighbor’s yards until arriving back inside, where Linnea drew a pool in the kitchen sink for herself and Puck.

Then Linnea had her usual half-hour phone conversation with Cherry, who was coming to visit for a week.

That night, a thunderstorm tore through after ten o’clock.
