Frances had decided to have a soda for his morning snack during math.
“Wow!” he said, after taking a gulp. “It’s like a million tiny little bees going down my throat. It feels awesome!”
Puck was dancing to big band music in the his port-a-crib in the living room.
After his morning walk, Puck listened to his Aunt Linnea read him Bible stories while he lounged in her lap with his wow.
By the warmth of the afternoon, Collette looked outside to see Carrie-Bri and Linnea sitting in the fire pit giving themselves an ash bath.
“Don’t laugh,” said Carrie. “I’m trying to be like Man vs. Wild.”
They looked like a pair of aborigines. Collette forgot to ask why they would cover their faces, arms, and legs in ash – maybe to avoid the sun’s harmful rays on a particularly hot day – but at least the neighbors would be entertained.
OLeif, Collette, and Puck ended their day at the park where, for the first time in a very long time, Collette jogged at two brief intervals.
