It was still cool outside. Green. Rain. In another part of the world at Myrtle Beach, Garret Raven was getting married.
Puck was in the kitchen over at the house, slinging old pennies off the table while Rose held him back from Linnea’s coin collection.
Puff ‘o Lump and Creole had spent the night with Frances and Carrie had made them breakfast: bacon and sausage, scrambled eggs with cheese, and cornbread (all improvised of course, the Carrie way). Later, they took a hike to QT while Carrie worked once again on senior photos with Rose.
Puck was dancing (more like bouncing) to the tunes of Rose’s cell phone.
Carrie still wanted to try living in the wild as she prepared chili and garlic toast for lunch.
“Bear Grylls practices before he goes out into the wild,” she said. “I’m sure he throws himself into a bog before he really shows us how to get out of one.”
Joe laughed.
“I’m going to put ants in the chili,” said Carrie.
Collette later wondered, after the fact, if she really had done so. As usual, the spring infestation of ants at the Snicketts house, was trailing across the counter between the patio door and the kitchen window.
Later after his nap, Puck amused himself by unloading a large box of oatmeal packets all over the kitchen floor.
