Memorial
Snow had, fortunately for people like Carrie, been removed from the forecast for the day.
And so, plans commenced as originally intended.
Collette had OLeif up by 6:45 to get ready for the Men’s Missions Conference breakfast at church, starting at 8:00.
Then to meet the happy Puck at the Silverspoon’s, where Gloria had fried eggs, bacon, and English muffins ready for breakfast. Theodore was preparing to leave for the office. And Izzy was off to play practice.
After all the boys had returned, they sat down to barbecued chicken for lunch.
By 2:30, back to the house to meet Dad, Mom, Francis, and Linnea to watch Puck for the evening so that OLeif, Collette, and Carrie-Bri could attend Memorial’s Saturday evening service. They were all ready for an evening of fun that included visiting the grocery store together and McDonald’s.
Then as Dad was putting Puck to bed for the night, he rubbed his back and sang the traditional Abide with Me.
In the middle of the hymn, Puck looked at him and said, “Sing in the other room, please, Grandpa.”
Dad got a kick out of that one.
Another beautiful evening in downtown St. Louis. While OLeif practiced with the quartet of two violins, cello, two alto sax, and himself on viola, Collette and Carrie drove around a little to take in the unique grandeur of the architecture of the homes around Forest Park.
They then made their entrance to the chapel, distancing themselves between groups of people hurrying to the wedding in the sanctuary.
The service was good, albeit crowded enough for Collette and Carrie to take a high seat on the pews set parallel to the wall.
Somewhere in the middle of Dr. Wintershine preaching about cruelty towards the Caribbean islanders from the Spaniards, there was a convulsion of cheering and hoots from the sanctuary, which went on for an abnormally long amount of time.
And right as the service was ending, inside a glacier in Iceland, a volcano was erupting.
Coffee Cartel while waiting for dinner. Followed by sushi at the Drunken Fish where the manager talked to OLeif for a short while about music. Then OLeif had a giant dragon roll, and Collette and Carrie each had a philly roll. The food was good, and the evening wrapped up shortly after nine.
