In which the non-school, non-work, and play continues…
So OLeif was off for the day.
And the chickens had a home.
The afternoon was for errands, and deciding what film to watch over dinner.
“What about Kung Fu Panda 2?”
“Yes,” Puck agreed.
“What about hot dogs in space?” OLeif asked.
“Yes.”
“What about… an apple pie eating a moon?”
“No.”
A gray rain curtain was sliding in while OLeif ran in to pick up a few miscellaneous groceries for the week, Puck had thoughts…
“Mama? Let’s just stay up until God goes to sleep.”
“Ok. But we’ll be up for a long time. God never sleeps. If he did, the world would fall apart.”
Puck thought about this silently for a moment…
“But what about when he fell asleep on the boat in the water?”
Busted.
A trinitarian conversation followed.
After a drop-off for fuel and coffee, the boys went in to Heaven Scent while Collette waited. A little dry sleet bounced off the windshield as they emerged several minutes later with a white box. Apparently business had been slow that day.
A very clean Wendy’s restaurant awaited the reserves of OLeif’s wallet next. No other guests were currently on the premises at shortly after three o’clock.
The Baconator.
Surprisingly, the only sandwich Collette recalled enjoying that housed ketchup and mustard.
Puck also lured a lemonade out of his dad.
As they exited, a heavier sleet and rain combination was falling.
Back home, OLeif got the popcorn popper whirling, while Puck switched into his jams and managed to take a spill out of the saucer chair in the basement before the jam-fest began. He quickly recovered, however, in time to enjoy an Arthur marathon in the basement.
There was also the box from Heaven Scent, all of which Puck had chosen himself: bell-shaped sugar cookie iced in bright orange with a dark red frosting bow, cherry-pink-glazed cake donut, and a red, green, and white sprinkle-dipped cream puff for his mama.
And OLeif and Collette ended their own evening with a little independent film set in Genoa, Italy.
