Mom's Big Day

Mom’s 50th, and on Thanksgiving day.

It started with more cold and gray over at the Silverspoon’s house for a breakfast of OLeif-made scrambled eggs, and bacon, sausage, cinnamon rolls, broiled toast, and pineapple juice.
Then to the Silverspoon’s church to hear Reverend Marshall deliver a Thanksgiving sermon regarding the Prodigal Son.
Back to the Silverspoon’s for lunch and a nap for Puck.

Meanwhile, Mom had been surprised with sets of new crystal cabinet knobs for the kitchen, which the kids installed for her. Carrie-Bri made more scones and clotted cream for her breakfast. And Dad had purchased her a nice perfume.

Come mid-afternoon, the Silverspoon’s were joining the South’s for the big meal, while OLeif, Collette, and Puck headed over to the Combs’ house with a bowl of dip and chips, to join the rest of the Snicketts family, Grandma Combs, and Uncle Larry.
Turkey, Grandma’s breaded noodles, vegetables, mashed potatoes, rolls, and the canned cranberry jelly, which Aunt Petunia had cut into little leaves.
This was mixed in with the usual laughs and stories and family updates, and a new gift for Puck from Grandma: a foot-powered go-cart. Puck was very happy with this gift, once he was convinced that he was not too big to sit inside of it. And if it had not been for the intense cold, he would have remained outside longer to use it.
Back inside, he joined everyone in their usual enterprises and watched Uncle Mo roll his matchbox ‘trash truck’ around the floor while Aunt Petunia made sound effects. This was also a hit.

And to finish the evening, there was pumpkin pie, chocolate pecan, and a special Triple Chocolate Chip Cake for Mom, complete with Happy Birthday sung to her.

It was a nice Thanksgiving.
