More Errands

Thursdays were becoming errand day for Collette and Puck.
He was a good chubby, sitting in his car seat, watching the world go by. Sometimes while they were out, he’d call to the birds on the power lines.
That day, Collette and Puck were busy looking for party food,
for OLeif and Collette to watch the premiere of The Office that night. Pizzas and little smokies, at OLeif’s request.
But first it was to the library for a CD of ethnic African tunes. Puck, who was sitting in the stroller, eagerly reached out for the shelves of brightly colored DVDs.
At Target, he thought he saw a picture of his papa on the wall and called out loud for him. Then they looked at the racks of electric argyle socks before picking up two bottles of his favorite juice.
While browsing through the grocery aisles, Collette picked up a package of maseca. She had been reading to Puck his book about tortillas, which his grandma had brought back from The Alamo.
In the back was a recipe for tortillas, which called for maseca.
So Puck would have another kitchen project to work on later.
By the afternoon, Puck had found a permanent marker and started his work by recovering his legs in black. Then he got to the floor and doodled one doodle before Collette stopped. He was not pleased that his artwork was disrupted.
But then there were always Collette’s set of three glass ball paperweights filled with glass flowers, birds, butterflies, and fish. Puck learned how to carefully set them on the floor instead of throwing them.
By 4:30 it was time for a bath – one of Puck’s happiest things to do. Suds, ducks, and root beer shampoo.
For the evening, Joe joined them in time for their party.
