Movie Night
Carrie was well into her next obsession – a British television series entitled – Dr. Who.
“Stop me!” Carrie cried. “Must… work!”
Puck was busy sorting the enormous Target bag of Laffy Taffy, Skittles, Runts, and Sweetarts in the kitchen. This was followed with a swing with his mom under the old tree in the backyard. Puck loved to swing. His chubby dimples rosied over his face as he paddled his feet through the warm autumn air.
That evening, Mom brought back Collette and Puck to watch the big fella while OLeif and Collette joined everyone at the house for movie night.
Carrie-Bri already had a white bed sheet strung between the two old hammock trees with dental floss. It floated like a ghost in the cool autumn winds.
After the chairs and cots were set up in front of the big screen, and the projector and speakers (wedged into trash cans for amplification) behind the bed sheet, they waited for Grewe, Erasmus, and Eve to join them.
“Isn’t that your bed sheet, Rose?” Collette asked.
“Hey!” Rose cried.
“It most certainly is,” said Carrie, bringing out the snacks.
Homemade caramel corn and Carrie’s brew of apple cider.
It was time for walk-in movie night, The Changeling. Everything went well, with the occasional rip of the floss, requiring a re-tie. Until, that is, the credits began to roll.
“Where’s Joe?” someone asked.
Joe was inside on the couch, that’s where he was. After losing his groceries about nine times over the course of the night,
he began to feel better. It must have been food poisoning, they decided. Poor fellow.
But other than that, the day had been a good one.
