Movie Night
Monday opened with ice. Drivers on the highway didn’t often exceed 40 miles per hour on the way to the house. Temperatures were in the 10’s.
Before leaving that morning, Puck had his bucket of customary blueberries for breakfast. Predictably, his fingers turned blue by the end of his meal.
“Eew,” he said slowly to Collette. “Eeeeeeew.”
At the house, Puck began collecting treasures to set under the tree where his Tante Carrie had just set several wrapped gifts. One of Puck’s treasures was an old cell phone. He crawled his way under the tree to the snoozing Pumpkin and held the cell phone up to her ear.
“Hewo?” he said. “Hewo? Hewo? Hewo?”
Pumpkin rolled her eyes and went back to her cat nap.
For the afternoon, Puck carried around a stuffed octopus, and laughed through the sliding glass door at his Lila sliding on the patio ice. He then pretended he was a kitty with Carrie and Linnea. This was followed with rides in a cardboard box from one of the many Christmas presents arrived in the mail that afternoon.
Meanwhile, Francis could be seen putting on a floor show in the living room for Puck.
“Francis!” Carrie exclaimed, “Stop jump-roping with a slinky!”
That evening, while Mom and Linnea kept an eye on the sleeping Puck, OLeif and Collette joined Carrie, Bing, and Eve back at the house for classic movie night, which involved Roman Holiday (with Bing adding his own personal collection of trivia about the film as a running commentary) and a plate of chocolate kiss cookies.
