National Joaquin Phoenix Day?

Wednesday, November 9, 2005

It was another afternoon in which Collette found herself taking a shower downstairs at the house. For OLeif had convinced her to attend Junior High youth, along with Rose and Molly. So while Mom had taken the kids to their two choirs and Carrie had dropped Joe off at work on her way to work, Rose trimmed the shrubs outside and the cats milled about.

Carrie had announced that afternoon, (after Collette had caught her singing to herself in the mirror wearing abnormally large sunglasses), that: “Because next Friday is officially Elizabeth’s and my celebration of “National Joaquin Phoenix Day,” we are going to have his picture affixed to a Dairy Queen cake!”

Collette found it humorous that Carrie had canceled her 19th birthday in lieu of celebrating her favorite actor. Carrie had taken the notion that she had grown too old to celebrate any birthdays. But despite her protests, there would be cake and presents for her on Friday, November 18th. Collette prayed that soon, some wonderful Christian man came to sweep her off his feet, whether or not he was black-haired, blue-eyed, white-skinned, and short-legged.
