Never had a Mocha

Saturday, June 25, 2005

Friday evening had been spent at a brief closing ceremony for Vacation Bible School. It had been a hiking theme that hot summer week, and Linnea and Francis proudly wore their backpacks, singing with the rest of the children under the smiling lead of Mrs. Swiss.

Afterward, Diana peeled into the church parking lot where everyone else ate ice cream under the fire fighter tent. She and Collette then drove off to spend the next three hours or so at Borders, talking things over. After a short time, Diana offered to get them drinks.

Seriously, I have, like, so many gift cards. And you have got to get a mocha. Girl, you’ve never even tried one before.”

And so Collette decided to finally take the plunge and try an iced mocha. They also looked at the desserts under the glass case.

Oooh hoo hoo,” Diana rubbed her hands together, greedily eying the sweets. “Hmmm… what do you want? Those cinnamon rolls look good. Oh! Turtle fudge brownies!”

But they finally settled on a slice of cheesecake to split and enjoyed it over their drinks. Collette was also pleasantly surprised to find that the mocha was not half-bad, quite good actually. Although it wasn’t good enough to have her hooked, which was also convenient. They talked on till eleven-thirty when OLeif came to briefly join them. It was good, just the two of them having some time to talk things over. And they soon made arrangements to gather at Ivy’s the following week for barbecue and an old movie with Carrie-Bri and Eve.
