Night Before the Ice
Ah, another Saturday. Somehow Collette managed to get her hands on York peppermint patties and Reese peanut butter cups. It was a bad idea, but it was a day for sweets, and entirely unavoidable.
While OLeif, Frances, and Linnea rehearsed for the children’s Christmas program at church, Collette and Puck joined Mom and Joe on errands. Puck had a fantastic time chewing on his shoe as he was paraded through the store. He gabbed at the merchandise.
“I must have mistletoe, Mom,” said Joe.
First, he found a miniature dollar Christmas tree and added it to the cart. This was followed with a box of colored LED Christmas lights to add to the tree. Finally the mistletoe, (honest to goodness live mistletoe), was discovered packed in an aisle with all the other Christmas decor, in a small box. Joe was happy.
It was the Silverspoon’s later that evening where documentaries on giant squids and survival in Patagonia were on the travel channel. Puck was more amused with his box of toys and crawling around the room after various pairs of walking shoes.
They returned home as the freezing rain began to fall.
