Back to the math once again. And the Portuguese. After more milk for Linnea’s bowl of Captain Crunch, of course…
They had brought a new Gone Fishin’ game to show Puck, which was to be used at the Snicketts-Black Christmas get-together for all the little ones.
“Joe, Rose, Francis, and I had a fishing tournament with it already,” said Linnea.
Then Francis returned from breakfast with the guys, and then frisbee golf with Henri and Creole.
In the middle of math, Francis paused for a moment in thought.
“I owe Joe a wedgie,” he said.
Then Mom came in.
“The girls want us back home,” said Francis, having recently got off the phone with Rose.
“Why?”
“Because Carrie says she’s going to eat all of your plants… She’s so hungry. They also want you to bring back milk.”
The afternoon silvered over in a sort of dim quiet.
Inside, Collette and Puck listened to R.C. Sproul and John MacArthur, read more Calvin & Hobbes, and Puck took an extended bubble bath.
And back to the old Hamilton Family ancestry, now at over 370 pages of text.
OLeif returned late in time to pack his clothes for the wedding, and with an ice cream bowl to split.
Meanwhile, in other news…
Linnea-Irish was attending a costume party in Illinois.
Rose was leaving for the Symphony that night: Scheherazade. At least some people could still keep up with Classic music after the horrible demise of the St. Louis station…
And Joe had been hired on as Green Lantern’s book keeper and was spending every day that week in training.
And departure was scheduled for seven o’clock to Nashville the following morning. Because, within twenty-four hours, cousin Esther Black was to become Mrs. Jude Chapman.
