Puck got right down to business on Friday morning over at the house. Francis had gifted him his old RC car, and Puck was enthralled.
“I need Mama’s keys to lock the door,” he said importantly. “I need baby keys.”
Meanwhile, Mom and Linnea were heading over to the park to meet with the English family.
Carrie was on a hike with Grewe and came back to make quesadillas for lunch.
Joe was on a bike ride before leaving for work and then picking up Wally and Lolli in Rolla.
And Dad had just returned from a meeting.
After Puck’s nap, Carrie-Bri pulled out the hair cutting materials to give him a hair trim. He carefully held the hand mirror Mom gave him so that he could watch Carrie use the hair clippers on the back of his neck, all the while wrinkling his nose in worry.
“It tickles!” he said.
And Collette repaired more of Carrie’s dreads while they watched an old DC Talk music video for old time’s sake.
Then it was back home to make pancakes for the small crew, including Rose.
And that evening, under cloud-enshrouded golden moon, Collette and Rose ran errands, which included Bed, Bath, & Beyond to pick up Megan Salthouse’s shower presents, Flag World (for a key chain of Dominica’s flag), and the place dangerous to take any Snicketts girl: the bookstore. Borders, to be specific. Rose came away with six new books, four of them about Mark Twain, and two regarding English literature. She also bought a small box of Ghirardelli peppermint bark for them to share.
