November 8

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Another Sunday morning. Puck sat in church looking through some of the smaller books of his collection. And for some reason, his hair was smelling like French crullers.

Back at the house, Collette made Mom’s Honeybun Cake while Mom fried up bacon, scrambled eggs, and then there was fruit and fruit juice altogether, when everyone returned from church.

Then Carrie took off for Forest Park with Lucia.
Joe drove Wally and Lolli back to Rolla.
Francis was taking Puck on go-cart rides in the afternoon while OLeif and Dad studied.
Linnea was wearing her new knee-high chucks (which OLeif told her had to be the ‘coolest shoes ever!’) and playing with the neighbor girls in what looked like a sort of excavation in their front yard, until Gretyl arrived to play.
Mom, Collette, and Linnea dropped in at the old Trader Joe’s for an eclectic collection of groceries, including four boxes of the seasonal Candy Cane Joe-Joe’s.
And later that evening, OLeif and Francis prepared for the Senior High Guys’ Discipleship Groups labeled ‘Vicious Man Night’ by Henry Eight, himself.

That night, while OLeif was involved in another evening, Rose was over to the house to watch The First Men on the Moon with Collette.
“Great,” said OLeif. “I’m gone, and you watch a movie about men.”
“On the moon,” said Rose, wiggling her eyebrows.
In the end, they watched Them! (a B-sci-fi on giant killer ants) and The Next Iron Chef over a box of Trader Joe’s mini peanut butter cups.

And Dad was preparing to leave for Cedar Falls the next afternoon.
