October 8
Collette heard the rain coming in during the early morning. And during Puck’s breakfast, it fell in droves, drowning out the hollies.
OLeif left for class after running to the store for dry yeast to start a batch of bread in the bread maker.
By the time lentil stew was ready for lunch, the whole house smelled of fresh hot bread and stewed apples.
And the rain continued to fall.
Later in the day, Puck enjoyed some animal crackers from Grandma Combs.
“I want a elephant, Mama,” he said with a grin.
Collette hunted out an elephant for him.
“I eat her nose?” Puck asked for permission, looking carefully at the cracker.
Comedy night brought Rose and Joe over to the basement once again. This time Collette had made spice cake pumpkin muffins. And while Puck helped her make them earlier in the afternoon from his high chair, Collette discovered that there was no can opener to open the canned pumpkin. And so… out came the hammer and screwdriver. With every whack of the hammer, Puck was tickled to death. The whole thing was so funny, he doubled over in giggles every single time, particularly when the pumpkin began to fly a little.
Collette really missed Israel that day.
