Ohio-Land

Back on the ranch, the camping crew drifted back in somewhere after noon. And new plans were already in the works for the weekend. Dad, Mom, Joe, Francis, and Linnea were driving the seven and a half hours up to Dayton, Ohio, to visit the Air & Space Museum. There would also be time to prowl about the old stomping grounds from when they had lived there for six months, sixteen years ago. Collette had many memories from the old Waterford Apartments and the city of Dayton, (including Rose’s first birthday and the big chocolate cake Mom had baked, iced, and topped with little colored marshmallows on the top, spelling out her name. Rose had been one fat happy baby with that cake). While they were visiting that weekend, Mom suggested that they also see the old “Bell Tower Park” as they called it, named for the great stone tower with bells at its top on the rolling green.

Meanwhile, Carrie and Rose would be at home, working.

Rose took a break during studies that morning to feed two very hungry cats who were, at the current time, exhibiting a terrific cat fight throughout the kitchen and living room.

“We forgot to feed them,” Rose said sheepishly. “They’re out of cat food.”

Snuggles and Pumpkin did not seem to mind, however, and practically chugged their way through two cans of pink salmon and tuna which Rose soon provided for them.

“There you go, sweetie pie,” Rose patted the fat black one on its head.

Trooper finished the fishy remains while Rose detailed her camera and lenses with window cleaning solution and q-tips while being quizzed. It was sort of a de ja vu.

Later, Rose updated the family on the goings-on while they had been away camping.

“…and Curly and I had a giant flip-flop fight…”

…was about all Collette recalled from the conversation.

In other good news, Dad had been hired for his next contract, beginning in June.

Come evening, Carrie-Bri was off on a practice-run hike with Eve in preparation for Australia. And OLeif hurried off to the house to help Joe load movies onto his iPod for the trip beginning at three the next morning.
