OLeif Strikes the Ice Cream Too Late

Tuesday, February 21, 2006

[7:02am] OLeif woke at 4:01 in the morning, sick to his stomach. After having removed a good deal of content from his stomach, he wearily suggested that it was the bowl of bad ice cream. Collette waited up with him a short while as he relieved his stomach again and crawled back into bed only to have him awaken at 6:30 to the same thing, which continued every fifteen minutes. After calling in sick, he headed back to bed with his laptop, should an emergency rise at work and they could contact him via IM (where his away message read: “vomiting up my spleen”). As the hour progressed, the vomiting became dry heaves and Collette resorted to caring for the laundry, as there was little to be done but wait it out with him. As she transferred laundry from the washer to the dryer, she glared at the now-empty box of Blue Bunny cookies and cream ice cream in the trash can.

In other news, Craig, the fish, was still alive.

Denae came around at 9:00 to bring a couple of remedies, several highlighted papers and written instructions, and a bottle of Sprite for good measure. The poor boy seemed to improve somewhat, although he was quite chalky.

[1:22pm] Come the afternoon, it finally seemed that OLeif was on the mend, after two remedies, club soda, and some warm wash cloths on the forehead. Collette was not used to sick OLeif, (as he was never sick), and was quite relieved to see him beginning to recover. Meanwhile she sent more refugees to the land of mismatched socks, and drank white tea, should OLeif actually have a virus which she might catch herself.

She was also pleased to see that the women had taken a silver in the bobsled, pulling itself up to a tie for second with Norway.

The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.” – Proverbs 20:27
