OLeif Turns 24

Friday, June 13

Once again, ladies and gentleman, the triple birthday:

OLeif: 24, officially considered in his “mid-twenties”
Eve: 20, never to see the years of teen-hood again
Wally: 19, two years to go till adulthood

OLeif had taken off the day from work, so after dropping off the little squishy with his grandma, aunts, and uncles, he and Collette took off to see the town.
First, there were two artichoke quiches for OLeif and one four-cheese quiche for Collette, from the Bread Co.
Then while thunder cracked around town, they hit the library book sale (where Augustus was volunteering) and where OLeif found several Calvin and Hobbes and Collette picked up the journal entries of Samuel Pepys, Marco Polo, Biblical maps, a Portuguese dictionary, and a Greek dictionary.
This was followed with gyros at the Greek lunch in Manchester while the rain fell in patches across the city. However, OLeif found himself too stuffed at the end to eat the Greek salad.
After another delicious meal, they drove around Topping Street, looking at all the mansions, new and old.
Then a walk around the Chesterfield Mall and a book purchase at Borders called Fruits (a picture book of Tokyo street fashions), and a new moleskin journal for OLeif.
After OLeif had a half-hour nap in the car outside the movie theater, it was on to Indiana Jones. As always, Collette was a sucker for anything semi-archaeological.
Then The Cheesecake Factory where OLeif had a Jamaican black pepper shrimp and chicken, Collette had The Navajo (grilled chicken, avocado, lettuce, and sauce wrapped in warm fry bread) and French fries, followed by a slice of white chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake, to split.
“I may pop,” said OLeif.
It was a good day for his 24th.
