In which distraction is the name of the day…

“Carrie has a pound of black soap for your hair if you want it,” Collette told OLeif that morning. “It might help.”
“I don’t know…” OLeif teased. “will it turn me into…”
“A pumpkin? Yes.”
“A dark-matter-eating pumpkin planet from outer space?”

Back on the ranch…
Joe and Francis were leaving for work; Rose already gone. All sorts of things were always scrambling around with news and plans. And…
[CARDS!]
The day was gray and red-leafed. Beautiful red October.
[CARDS!]
Mom and Dad returned earlier than expected from Branson, having had ‘another wonderful time again’, as usual.
[CARDS!]
And then…
The game was postponed, due to rain.
Baby Hesed was dropped off by his mama in the afternoon for about two hours. Puck was very excited to escort him from ‘toy center’ to ‘toy center’ while Carrie prepared pancakes from scratch, eggs, and bacon. Hesed was particularly interested in the bacon and continued to ask for ‘more bacon, more bacon!’.

Hallowe’en pumpkins and cupcakes at church in the spritzing cold gray of the rain.
[CARDS!]

And there was news that Collette’s little first cousin was born in Monday, shortly before midnight.
